報告簡介：

Climate pressures on multinational corporations are reshaping the dynamics between customers and suppliers. As firms respond to these pressures by promoting sustainable practices, they may transfer environmental responsibilities to their suppliers. Drawing on the decoupling perspective, we posit that while suppliers adopt sustainability practices to satisfy customer climate pressures and project an environmentally responsible image, these actions often lack substantial commitment to meaningful change. We utilize Compustat customer data to match North American suppliers with their global customers and explore the influence of climate pressure. Study 1 and Study 2 collectively reveal a dual effect of customer climate exposure on suppliers. We contribute to the literature by highlighting the complexities underlying climate-related pressures in supply chains and extend understanding of the unintended consequences of environmental pressures.
